Sir Chris Hoy

Sir Chris Hoy is an Event Ambassador for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

He’s also (take a deep breath!) eleven-time UCI World Champion, six-time Olympic champion, the most successful Scottish Olympian ever, the second most decorated Olympic cyclist, and with seventeen global titles across four disciplines, the most successful track cyclist of all time.  

Following his retirement from elite track cycling, Sir Chris has remained passionate about bikes, successfully launching a range of kids bikes and publishing a series of children’s books. 

As a proud Scotsman, ferocious competitor and icon of cycling, there’s no man better suited to being Event Ambassador for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.

Sir Chris will raise awareness, lead initiatives and be global spokesperson for the event taking place in the nation of his birth. Just as he represented his country on the track, he’ll represent it with the same passion and intensity off it.

“It is an honour to become an ambassador for the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships and I’m proud that such an historic event will be held for the very first time in Glasgow and across my home country of Scotland.

Not only will it be the biggest cycling event ever seen, it is a unique opportunity to unite the global cycling family and to showcase the incredible breadth of our sport.

Having competed in front of my home crowd many times, I know how much the people of Glasgow and Scotland will get behind the Championships. I’m delighted to launch the Champions of the Worlds initiative today and meet the first three Champions to hear about the brilliant work they do to promote cycling and how they’re getting behind the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships.
