Impact on the Transport Network

Road: Significant increased traffic on A72 between Peebles and Innerleithen Peebles and Innerleithen, on connecting roads such as A703 and A707 and around Park and Ride sites at Chapel Hill Farm, Hay Lodge Park and Innerleithen. Parking restrictions will also be in place.

Road (Sunday 6 August): Cross Country Marathon includes a small number of on road segments which will see short road closures. Routes affected include the B7062 and B709 around Traquair House, B709 Granites Road (North of Innerleithen), Caberston Road, Walkerburn and D83/1 and D83/2 back roads from Walkerburn to Ashiestiel

Bus: Potential increased journey time on services using the A72

Travel advice

  • If travelling in the Peebles, Innerleithen and surrounding area, plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. If travelling locally, walking or cycling may be your best options.
  • Park and rides sites will be in place for spectators at Chapel Hill Farm, Hay Lodge Park and Innerleithen. Roads around these sites will be busier than usual. Avoid driving in the local area if you can.
  • The A72 between Peebles and Innerleithen will be extremely busy particularly at the start and end of events. Consider rethinking your travel if you can.
