Impact on the transport network
Road: Significant increased traffic and speed restrictions on A82 between Fort William and Spean Bridge. Park and ride sites at Blah Mhor carpark and Spean Bridge may cause local congestion.
Rail: Some spectators may use Fort William Station so it may be busier than usual
Bus: Potential increased journey time on services using the A82
Travel Advice
- If travelling in the Fort William area, plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. If travelling locally, walking or cycling may be your best options.
- Park and rides sites will be in place for spectators at Blar Mhor carpark and Spean Bridge. Roads around these sites will be busier than usual. Avoid driving in the local area if you can.
- The A82 between Fort William and Spean Bridge will be extremely busy particularly at the start and end of events. Consider rethinking your travel if you can.
- Saturday 5 August will be the busiest day with thousands of spectators coming to watch the action. Leave extra time if travelling in the local area and leave the car at home if you can.
