Cynthia's story might resonate with some of you - she's relatively new to volunteering having had her first taste during COP26 in 2021, now she can't get enough!

While the 2023 UCI Cycling Worlds might be your first time volunteering, don't worry, Cynthia's story demonstrates exactly why this is such a rewarding - and fun - way to spend your time.

Feel inspired to be part of the biggest cycling event in history?

How did you get involved with volunteering?

I have always been someone that has a passion to serve others and to spread love and kindness wherever I go!

I volunteered for COP26 last year and that was all I needed to get my foot into the door of the volunteering world.

What was your first volunteer experience?

My first volunteering experience was COP26 hosted by Glasgow in 2021.

How has volunteering positively impacted your life?

Volunteering has positively impacted my life in such an unimaginable way! I regained my self confidence and in fact, I discovered so much about myself through volunteering. I also became a very social person and learned to interact with people from all walks of life.

What has been your favourite volunteer experience?

COP26 was my favourite volunteering experience. I got to meet so many different people from all over the world while showcasing our beautiful Glasgow.

I made new friends through that experience and I also learned a lot about diversity and different cultural backgrounds. I also learned a lot about the environment and measures I can take to help combat climate change.

No We Ride - 2023 UCI Cycling World Champs

Why are you looking forward to the 2023 UCI Cycling World Champs?

2023 UCI Cycling World Championships is not just any ordinary event! It will be the worlds biggest cycling event ever hosted!

It will bring together 13 individual UCI World Championships into one mega event, to create the world’s biggest cycling event every 4 years.

What event are you most excited for?

I honestly wish I could be at all the events at the same time, that would be a dream come true.

Whichever event I find myself at, I know for a fact that it will be mind-blowing and that I will enjoy every bit of the experience. So, I have no personal preference. All the events will be worthwhile!

What positive impact will the Championships have on Scotland

This event will show the entire world the inexplicable beauty that Scotland has to offer by proving that Glasgow, and Scotland as a whole, is the best place to host an event of such magnitude.

It is also a great example of some of the measures that COP26 had encouraged every individual to try and do whenever possible to improve our planet.

This prestigious and unforgettable event being hosted by Glasgow and across Scotland will stretch that message even further to every corner in the world through the power of the bike!

Why would you encourage others to get involved by volunteering?

This event is one of a kind and I doubt that there is anyone right now that would not want to share it with their family and friends.

It's a must attend, must see and must share!

It's an opportunity of a lifetime. It's worth every bit of sharing and encouraging everyone to part take, and play, their part.
