Top Travel Tips

- Don't forget there is no general parking at venues for spectators with the exception of limited spaces for Blue Badge holders.
- Walking, cycling and public transport is likely to be your best option to get to most venues.
- Look out for more detailed advice for travelling to each venue.
How to get around Scotland
Scotland is very well connected, with sustainable transport options available to get to all venues. We want the Championships to be the greenest event possible. Walking, cycling and public transport are great ways to get to the Championships.
Make sure to plan ahead and visit Traveline Scotland to plan your journey.
Train
- Most venues are close to train stations with frequent services to other parts of Scotland and beyond.
- Please be aware that some services will be busy so book your ticket in advance where possible.
- Space for bicycles on trains is limited so remember to book ahead or check with the train operator before bringing your bike.

Bus
- Scotland has an excellent local bus network covering all venues.
- There are several operators covering different locations. Make sure you check the best option for you.
- Please be aware there may be changes to timetables, stops and routes during the Championships.

Subway
- The subway can be a great way to get around in Glasgow.

Tram
- The tram can help you get around Edinburgh.

Walking & Cycling
- If you are traveling locally, walking or cycling may be your easiest way to get to the Championships.
- Cycle parking will be available at all venues.
- Cycle Hire is available in Glasgow and Stirling.

Car
- There is no general parking for spectators at venues.
- Park and Ride facilities are available at Glentress Forest and Nevis Range with a shuttle bus to take you on to the venue.
- Blue Badge parking is available at all venues.
- The road network will be busier than usual so please leave your car at home.
Getting to Scotland
Getting to Scotland
- Wherever you are coming from, there are lots of travel options to get to Scotland. It is well connected to the rest of the UK, Europe and further afield.
- Getting to Scotland by train is easy with services from all across England including direct services from London, Birmingham, Manchester and many other locations.
- Long distance coach services are available from several cities in England and Wales.
- Scotland has five international airports with national and international flights daily.
- The terminals at Port of Tyne and Hull offer international ferry connections to the Netherlands with convenient onwards motorway links to Belgium, Germany and France. Both are less than 3 hours away from some venues.
Camping and caravanning in Glasgow City Centre
In terms of Camping/caravanning within the city’s boundaries, the City of Glasgow has a strict no camping or campervanning policy and does not allow this.
Camping and caravanning in the rest of Scotland
If you are considering using a campervan during your trip, please read SOAC’s guide to responsible camping in Scotland to make sure you have the best experience possible and comply with Scottish legislation. Please do not turn up to campsites without booking in advance.
